My name is Dr Tamsin Lovell. I’m a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and founder of The Relationship Psychologist, a small private practice offering psychological therapy.
I believe many of the struggles we face are connected to our relationships, past and present, which shape how we view ourselves, others, and the world around us. Sometimes, patterns that once helped us cope can begin to hold us back, leaving us feeling stuck, conflicted, or overwhelmed.
I take an evidence-based relational approach in therapy; by understanding how our experiences have shaped us, I help clients develop greater self-awareness, heal from difficult experiences, develop healthy coping strategies and move forward meaningfully in their lives.
I have over a decade of experience providing psychological support in in the NHS supporting people across the lifespan. I have held various senior and leadership roles, currently working as a Principal Clinical Psychologist in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, predominantly working with adults with complex mental health difficulties. I have worked in private practice since 2022.
I have expertise in working with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, stress, low self-esteem, shame, emotional overwhelm and relationship issues.
I am trained in several evidence-based recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). I draw on a range of psychological models, primarily Mentalisation-Based Treatment (MBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
